Set in historic old Sydney town, just a stones throw from the Sydney Harbour Bridge is a fabulous boutique hotel, Hotel Palisade. This quirky hotel is located in such an iconic part of Sydney with killer harbour views.
Local Stays seeped in History
I love coming across boutique hotels that have an authentic and unique character seeped in spirit of place. Hotel Palisade is just such a gem of a stay. The design aesthetic is spot on in marrying the historical past with a contemporary and cool modernity.
The ground floor of Hotel Palisade is a classic old style Aussie pub. Venturing down early in the morning you will find the bar stools up and the freshly mopped floor creating a nostalgic memory of a time when pubs and boarding houses were the home to many a working class citizen.
The building is raw and authentic and the design features make it evocative of history while being so placed in the present. I simply love staying here for all presence of place and grounding that it exudes. If buildings could talk you would hear the whispers of Sydney through its walls.
Rustic Hotel Palisade Sydney
A perfect Staycation
There is no better time to enjoy local stays like Hotel Palisade.
Ramble the old Sydney quarter and enjoy the old bookstores and markets. Don’t forget to head down to the old wooden piers at Walsh Bay where you will find the home of Sydney Dance Company You can also drop in for a drink and a meal at one of my fav establishments in this part of Sydney at Pier One. Nestled under the iconic Harbour Bridge the water views at Pier One are hard to beat and much more chill than around the corner at Circular Quay.
There are so many great dining and entertaining options right at the doorstep and of course make sure during your stay you head up to the top floor the the great Henry Deane for a champagne or cocktail and some great eats.
